Festival Theme: “Who are the Europeans?” This year’s theme invites artists to reflect on what it means to be European, both historically and in the present day, and to engage with the idea of European identity as it evolves. We seek creative responses to this question, exploring the past, present, and future of Europe. Historical events, art, and literature have shaped European identity, and today’s epochal issues—such as climate change, migration, wars, and international relations—are redefining it.
Artistic Exploration Artists are invited to explore the theme of European identity through any artistic medium, including but not limited to art, music, theatre, photography, and interdisciplinary practices. We encourage artists to examine the foundations of European identity, its transformations, and the challenges it faces in the 21st century. Works that engage with Europe’s past, present, and future are welcome.
We are particularly interested in diverse interpretations that highlight both the positive and negative aspects of being European, fostering a rich dialogue on shared values, rights, and freedoms, and engaging with the contemporary issues that shape our collective future. Whether through individual narratives or broader explorations, artists are encouraged to present their unique perspectives and contribute to a meaningful discussion about Europe’s cultural and social landscape.
