PEGA “Updating the Knowledgeof Tourism Professionals” is an intensive training programme for tourismprofessionals funded by the ESF 20017-2013 Programme. Tt was commonlyundertaken by the University of the Aegean, the Panteion University of Athensand the University of Thessaly in 2015. In order to updatethe knowledge of tourism professionals in a globalizing economic environment,highly competitive smart products and new business models are required in thetourism sector. The Cultural Heritage Module of the PEGA aims toinstruct tourism professionals into the design and delivery of cognitive-emotionalexperiences for visitors at heritage places. The onsitetraining has demonstrated that interconnected professional networks, tools andservices to exploit the local heritage potential with new heritage consumptionmodels capable to provide opportunities for structural changes in the heritagesector is an indispensable condition for the future of tourism professionals.
