2021: The End of Antony
Inspiration for contemporary creation
The interdisciplinary multi-collective project "Kavafis: 4 poems about Nikopolis", tries to connect the poetic universe and the relationship of Cavafy with antiquity, - as it is revealed through four poems - with the archaeological site of the city of Nikopolis and history her.
In this context, Artifactory is organizing for 2021 a thematic experience inspired by K. Cavafy's poem "Antonio's End".
29 photographers, 2 composers, 10 musicians, an actor, a scholar and an archaeologist composed an original connection of K. Cavafy's poem "Antonio's End" with antiquity, and specifically with the archaeological site of the city of Nicopolis. The thematic experience inspired by K. Cavafy's poem "Antonio's End" conceived and curated by Fotini Papachatzi and implemented by the urban non-profit company Artifactory took place on August 28 and 29, 2021, presenting original works in the arts of photography and of music at the Roman Conservatory of Nicopolis, framed by an original themed tour.
2021: The End of Antony
Thematic tour of the archaeological site of Nikopolis
The last summer afternoons of August began with a themed tour by Ms. Polyxenis Barka, tour guide-archaeologist of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Preveza who "unlocked" the history of the site, accompanied by a parallel "tour" of the poem by Stathis Gourgouris, poet, essayist, theorist , translator and professor of Comparative Literature and Social Studies at Columbia University in New York. During the evening, Mr. Kosmas Markis, teacher and actor from the Theater Workshop of Preveza, recited the poem "Antonio's End" in the area of the house of the judge Georgios.

Afterwards and with the start of the event at the Roman Conservatory of Nicopolis, the public watched a projection on a video wall of the works of 29 photographers and artists who created with the medium of photography or video, inspired by K. Cavafy's poem "Antonio's End" by open invitation.

Then Stathis Gourgouris, poet, essayist, theorist, translator and professor of Comparative Literature and Social Studies at Columbia University in New York shared his Thoughts on "The End of Antonio".
"Antony's Swan Song" and "Antony's Last Minutes"
The musical part of the event started with the ensemble "Anemoen Fronima" who presented the rhythmically dense multi-phase work "The Antonian Surceace", "Antonio's swan song", composed by Aristotle Dimitrakopoulos and performed by Aristotle Dimitrakopoulos - alto saxophone, Spyros Koukas - clarinet, Epaminondas Tziveni - violin, Maria Nikopoulou - violin, Antoni Tziveni - viola, Artemis Koukouzika - cello and direction by Alexandros Pourloukakis. The work "The Antonian Surceace" seduced the audience into a negotiation of distinct lineages and cultures as they are structured in the poetic work: The End of Antony and on his way, boldly marrying sounds of the east and the west.
This was followed by the work "The last minutes of Antonio" composed by Diamantina Vrachliotis, from the L'Anima Quartet (Stella Tsani-violin, Brunilda Eugenia Malo - violin, Ilias Sdoukos - viola and Lefki Kolovou - cello). Diamantina Vrachlioti created a well-tuned chaos about the despair of defeat with sharp melodies. The soprano Despina Tsokunoglou, both seductive and haunting, completed and "solved" the dark cinematic atmosphere.
