1. Περιγράψτε σύντομα το έργο σας

This was a temporary exhibition exhibited at ARKIVET Peace and Human Rights Center the summer of 2019. Individuals with a minority background from Iraq, Syria and Sàpmi shared their thoughts and feelings on identity. The exhibition presented a collection of minority stories and woven identities expressed through a variety of creative forms. Through film, photography, animation, dance, music and poetry, you met a diverse group of individuals, and become more familiar with their experiences and unique identities. By acknowledging their stories, we aim to promote an inclusive and diverse society, where all people feel valued and free to be themselves. We hoped that the exhibition would be a small - but important step, towards fighting xenophobia.

2. Ποιος ήταν ο στόχος του έργου;

Animation: Interpretation of the poem "Two Countries" by Namoi Shihab Nye
Dance installation (film): "The Sea Sami and Identity lost, and the Dancer"
Portrait interviews (film): "What About Identity?"
Portrait photography: "Repository"
Short Documentary Film: "Skin Remembers"
Interactive activity: "What does identity mean to you?"

3. Ποιος συμμετείχε στη διαδικασία σχεδιασμού;

Different artists, curated by Solveig Hessaa-Szwinto and Katrina Gulbrandsen

4. Εάν μπορούσες να αλλάξεις κάτι, τι θα άλλαζες;

The exhibition should have been exhibited for longer. Perhaps six months. But due to limited space that was not possible.

5. Πώς επηρέασε το έργο στην κοινωνία των πολιτών;

Storytelling is a powerful tool that rejects the single narrative, builds bridges between people and expand our understanding of the world. In order to disseminate these stories to as many people as possible we have with this exhibition used the art-form dance and poetry as the vessel to communicate and teach others about "being part of a minority". This went extremely well and we only received positive feedback from the audience. By telling a story through art we managed to touch and move the audience on a level that words sometimes cannot. Also using art as an expression enlarged the audience and included also people that are not especially interested in topics like migration and minorities from before, which is extremely important.

It is also easy to continue to transfer the knowledge from the exhibition, since almost all of it was digital.

6.Πως η καινοτομία, η έμπνευση και η συμπερίληψη εφαρμόζονται στην πρακτική σας;

The exhibition aimed to fight xenophobia and promote an inclusive society.

7.Πως χρηματοδοτήθηκε η βέλτιστη πρακτική σας;

Arts Council Norway, Gjensidigestiftelsen, Fritt Ord, Agder Municipality, Platform and some internal funds.

8. Πως διαχύθηκε/προωθήθηκε η βέλτιστη πρακτική σας;

Through social media, news papers and physical posters.

Your fields of activity/ Topics
We use storytelling to preserve our new cultural heritage and increase public knowledge about forced migration and minorities, in order to fight xenophobia and be part of creating an inclusive society where diversity is celebrated. Thus we create platforms and meetingplaces for storytelling and freedom of speech.
