The project wants to show both national rhetoric and everyday rhetoric, and through text and images visually expose which (positive and negative) influence especially the national rhetorician directly and indirectly can be thought of practicing on the individual's own dealing with words - and implicit actions.

Overall, the goal of the project is to make it visible the presence of the word/language in various aspects of our lives. We want to raise awareness, engage and challenge the individual - to choose and to manage his words with care.

 Along the way, we have had to be critical to hegemonic perceptions, ie.
the opinions of the strongest or the majority, which are reproduced through them
dominant structures and institutions in community. In our work we have experienced that ethics and professional standpoint can go on across hegemonic perceptions in society. "

Thoughts and ideas find their form through language. Language is the path between perception and cognition. Ideas take shape as something you have on your mind takes shape as words. Through language you discover
yourself and your opinions.
According to the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, there is a systematic relationship between the language one speaks, and how a person both understands the world and relates to it. Or in other words; language shapes thoughts and ways of thinking. Language is not just words, it is the windows we see the world through and
helps to create our way of thinking.
The language you express yourself through shows who you are. Meaningful communication is not possible if you can not put into words your own experiences.
Language is also a meeting between the speaker and the listener, or the writer and
the one who reads. We're meeting right now, right here, as I write and you read.
This understanding of language as an identity marker and a basis for opinion formation is the foundation on which our work on Portåsen rests. These considerations also contribute to form a backdrop for the work of this exhibition. We who are behind the exhibition want to challenge the audience and encourage dialogue, debate and utterances.

We do not work with knowledge production that can be empirically verified as valid truths. - We take as our starting point that knowledge production is situation- and context-dependent, it must be seen in a historical, philosophical and political context, and is therefore not neutral. Knowledge whether cultural phenomena are considered constructed and value based.
